Richard R. Rios

Richard R. Rios is a founding partner and Executive Committee member at Olson Remcho.  He was formerly managing partner of Olson Hagel & Fishburn, which merged with Remcho Johansen & Purcell in January 2020 to form Olson Remcho.     

Mr. Rios specializes in election, campaign finance, ethics, government and political law.  He advises clients in the area of federal, state, and local campaign compliance and he frequently assists clients in drafting state and local ballot measures.  Mr. Rios’ clients include local, state and federal candidates and political committees, ballot measure proponents, professional associations, labor unions, nonprofit organizations, political parties, individuals and businesses.

Mr. Rios counsels lobbyists, lobbyist employers, and lobbying firms regarding compliance with disclosure and gift laws.  He also represents clients in administrative enforcement cases before the Fair Political Practices Commission and other state and local administrative agencies. 

Mr. Rios is past president of the California Political Attorneys Association.  He is an active member of the Association’s Legislation and Regulatory Committees which comment on and assist in drafting proposed statutory and regulatory changes to the California Political Reform Act.

Before joining Olson Hagel & Fishburn, Mr. Rios served as a senior advisor to Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson and other state legislators and was a field coordinator for several legislative campaigns.  Mr. Rios earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Redlands and his law degree from the University of California at Davis School of Law.
